New Flights From Hong Kong To Strand Cruise Port-Of-Call Mandalay

Hong Kong Express plans to launch flights from Hong Kong to Mandalay in February 2016, providing more travel choice for passengers on Myanmars newest luxury river cruise the Strand Cruise, as Mandalay is one of the two embarkation/disembarkation points.

The new route between Hong Kong and Mandalay will be twice weekly, with flights on a Wednesday and Sunday. The inaugural flight is scheduled for 21 February.

On 17 February the Hong Kong-based budget airline will also introduce a four times weekly service between Hong Kong and Yangon, operating on a Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.

Hong Kong Express flies to 20 destinations around Asia, including Siem Reap in Cambodia, Danang in Vietnam, Phuket and Chiang Mai in Thailand and Hiroshima in Japan. It plans to launch a service to Luang Prabang in Laos in 2016.

The luxury Myanmar cruise ship the Strand Cruise will launch a regular schedule of cruises on the Ayeyarwady River in January 2016 between the enchanting destinations of Bagan and Mandalay. Designed to mirror the legendary style, heritage and world-renowned reputation of sister property The Strand Hotel in Yangon, it is a much-anticipated addition to the choice of luxury cruises in Myanmar.

Bagan is one of Asias most important archaeological sites, with ancient chronicles saying it may have been the cultural and economic capital of the Pagan Empire in the 9th Century. The last royal capital of Burma, Mandalay is considered the centre of Burmese culture and is home to numerous monasteries and more than 700 pagodas.

The Strand Cruise will sail four night cruises from Bagan to Mandalay and three night cruises from Mandalay to Bagan. Passengers will enjoy a lavish Myanmar river cruise experience that promises an exotic journey of discovery and includes temples, pagodas, palaces, monasteries and remote villages.

The Strand Cruise fares start from US$1,782 double occupancy / US$2,673 single occupancy for Mandalay to Bagan and from US$1,976 double / US$2,964 single for Bagan to Mandalay. For bookings made now, a 20 per cent discount on the public rates is available for January to March 2016 sailings.

Rates for these Ayeyarwady river cruise sojourns include three meals during full sailing days and breakfast on day of disembarkation, sightseeing as stated in itineraries, local soft drinks and local beer and house wine during meals, shuttle transportation from point of embarking/disembarking to airport, port charges, English speaking guide (other language guides can be provided on request subject to availability), Wi-Fi in all cabins and public areas with satellite internet connection and complimentary international daily newspapers available on digital tablets.

The Strand Cruise ship itself is a magnificent custom-built 61 metre long vessel, with lavish cabin accommodation in a choice of 10 Deluxe Cabins, 13 Strand Cabins, two State Suites and two Strand Suites. Onboard facilities include a swimming pool, spa and wellness area, The Strand Restaurant serving fine international and Asian cuisine, al fresco dining area, wine cellar, lounge and library corner and the Upper Deck for cocktails and socializing.

The cabins are well appointed and tastefully decorated with Burmese craftsmanship, teakwood floors and items of regional art. Each cabin features floor-to-ceiling windows and a balcony allowing for spectacular views of the exotic Myanmar countryside as it passes by.

Cabin appointments include and en-suite bathroom, 24-hour butler service, complimentary Wi-Fi, flat-screen TV with cable channels, international plugs, AV connectivity, safety box, full-length mirror, bathrobes and slippers, branded amenities and separate toilet and rain shower.
